As a small business owner, you have to think about cybersecurity and know how to guard against cybercrime. Small businesses are targets of almost 43% of all cyberattacks. As technology evolves, so are the threats to your business. Let's discuss some types of cyberattacks you need to keep an eye on.

One of the most common attacks is the DoS (The Denial of Service) attack. It's based on shutting your system down by sending a lot of information and data from multiple sources at once to cause an overload. You can prevent this attack by identifying unusual spikes in traffic flow in your analytics, or by simply updating the right security softwares regularly across your site or any entry points to your network.

Another common type of cyberattack is the "Inside Attack". As its name implies, it's happening inside the organization when a current employee (or disgruntled past employee) decides to take advantage of their access to data they can reach. The first thing you must do when an employee leaves your company is to revoke their access to any data they have. A precautionary step is to ensure you monitor and clearly note which employees have access to what data sources, and only provision access on a need-to-know basis.
